Chai masala has been used throught ancient times not only for enjoyment but for its medicinal values and its popularity has lasted throughtout generations! It's said it improves and inhances everything from skin health to immune system with its antioxidants on top of mental focus and relaxation with its positive affects on the brain. The herbs and spices in this drink also can help improve digestion and energy levels. It's a great alternative for coffee drinkers of those who find themselves needing a pick me up in the mornings but want to come out of the heavy doses of caffine. Chai Masala can even help with studies or increase relaxation in the evenings making it a perfect all around drink for any occasion.
Total time: 20 minutes · Yields 4 generous servings. Have everything chopped before you start the heat.
3 1/2cups Water1 tbsp Black Tea or Assum Tea3 tbsp Sugar7 Cardamom Pods7 Cloves2 Star Anise 2 Sticks of Cinnamon OR 1tbsp Chopped cinnamon pieces 10 Black Peppercorns1 tbsp Ginger1 1/2cup plant milk (I'm using oat milk)
Add black tea, sugar, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, peppercorns, ginger and cloves to a small pot. Pour over 3 1/2 cups of water and with a low setting heat the mixture till it begins to simmer. Once it does, let it simmer for 7-10 minutes then pour over you choice of 1 1/2 cup plant milk. Let it simmer with the plant milk for about 3-5 minutes. Pour over mixture using a strainer then enjoy. If separatation appears it's still fine to drink just mix it together.
